Ilse Stalis, D.V.M.

Senior Scientist

Dr. Ilse Stalis serves San Diego Zoo Global as a Senior Scientist in Disease Investigations. In this role, she specializes in disease investigations and diagnostics for animals in the San Diego Zoo and Safari Park collections and conservation programs.

In addition to pathology investigations, Ilse has a special interest in bioinformatics and has been involved with development of the ISIS Zoological Information Management System (ZIMS) application. She has been instrumental in the deployment of ZIMS at the San Diego Zoo and Safari Park.

Ilse earned her bachelor’s degree in Biology and her doctorate in veterinary medicine from Cornell University. She completed her residency in veterinary pathology at the University of Pennsylvania, and is a Diplomate of the American College of Veterinary Pathologists. She serves as pathology advisor to the Prosimian Taxon Advisory Group of the Association of Zoos and Aquariums.
